Gavin Wood

We had a talk by a student of Edinburgh College of Art who previously done the BTEC Art and Design course (The same course as I am doing) He was talking about his work and what inspired him. His first work was inspired by horror films and the show of movement and suspense just before something happened. He then moved onto how we perceive colour and goes out and looks at something and describes in as much detail as he can in a little book on what colour he sees and then takes it back to his studio and paints it on a huge canvas. I enjoyed his talk and what he had to say but I found his art about colour very boring.

David Cass

We had a talk from an artist named David Cass, he painted of surfaces like old drawers, doors, etc and match boxes. He especially enjoyed painting wave shapes onto large pieces of wood and little landscapes on the match boxes. I really liked his work and the way he did things.

Clay face

I'm in the process of making a face out of clay and then going over it with newspaper or tissue to then paint it, its not going as well as I hoped but I think its still sort of good

Linda lovett

Last week we had a craft designer in for a visit, her name was Linda Lovett she told us her journey from BTEC art to where she is now. She started started working with companies where she would do sketches for ornament moulds. She then got tired of that and made cute little craft things our of copper, pieces of China she found and was inspired by upcycling. I liked her a lot, she was inspiring.

Dolls house

I'm doing up one of my dolls houses in my spare time, this is how far I've gotten so far.I started off with painting the walls as I had small tester pots of paint which I found when clearing out my grans house after she passed, and had tester bits of carpet from b&q then bought a tile from b&q. The triangular bit I had to get some help with from my boyfriends dad and he cut and placed it in for me. I had a few plastic furniture pieces lying around (white shelves and yellow wardrobe) so I stuck them in while the small foot stools are made from bottle caps (idea from pintrest) and the sofa is clay with material glued around.
